Why did this port?
Because we were going to make Maemo (the stack of software for Nokia devices) will use Qt in the future and we were doing a browser based on Mozilla for the N810, so now we are making this new browser version based on Qt. Before, there was a Qt port of Mozilla available. It took only 5 days to make the port. We support Mozilla and sent a team to Finland for a week.
What is the current state of the port?
The Qt port is almost all ready for your browser. For full support for Firefox, we need to implement XUL widgets, themes, and do some implementation for Flash playback support (NPAPI): works but does not draw anything.
Will support in the future?
Yes, we will support. Butler with Trolltech to ensure that you continue to give support.
What is Mozilla's interest in this?
Mozilla is interested in mobile devices. Nokia makes mobile devices, and use Qt. If you look at the mobility requirements of Firefox Qt is support.
Why Nokia is developing two browsers? This and QtWebKit
Nokia will use the best browser for the job. Currently, we can do a browser with all the features and integrated with WebKit in mobile. But with Mozilla, we need do nothing, we can use existing models and API's available. In addition, support is already NPAPI engine Gecko web rendering. They are also concerned that WebKit is to some extent controlled by Apple, who compete with Nokia with their iPhone.
The following questions are speculative, what is expected of Akademy, if the distributions include the port, etc. For the moment, there is a branch of the Mozilla Mercurial repository:

will have to wait and see how it progresses in Firefox Qt. One thing is certain, the project is underway, and will be achieved. It's a matter of time until KDE users can use Firefox and its derivatives with a graphical user interface integrated into our desktop.
we create ourselves our own character (avatar) and create our own rooms (rooms). Thanks to this we communicate with our friends, whether real life or virtual life Lively, in our private places or post and invite anyone to be join us.
When we create our own avatar a lot of possibilities to look like me as much to our real life or not, including the name you want to find us. Breakfast With three quarters of the same and in fact just have to see the room directory to see all the possibilities it holds.
We must provide a name to this room, a short description and a number of options. On the one hand we tell if we make the room service and directory will be displayed in rooms. We will also indicate to what degree people can redecorate it, having three options, public (anyone can add, move and delete objects), interactive (visitors can only move objects) and private (only we can move or add objects).
Lively HTML code we provide so we can advertise our room on our websites and invite visitors to enter the world of Lively. In Sounds can add music and sounds to our room or the library choosing Lively up yourself or our own music. In Shells we choose the surface of the room can choose between a few designs. Finally we go "shopping" in order to decorate it. In this sense I was reminded Sims and although by now most of the objects I've seen are free not rule out that in the future Google want to charge for it if things will go well.
Room The catalog is quite extensive, and that anyone can create and publish. Passed as yet almost all of these things, there are a number of rooms that are full and the rest are sadly empty.
The way to move through the world of Lively is not like Second Life that you'd move the virtual world with your character, but in Lively page we go to the Rooms section and then choose from the list.
As I tried Lively I must say that it's horribly slow, come to points where the computer has left me literally hanging, especially in crowded rooms. Also how to move the character seemed too orthopedic me and I've worked hard to know how it was done. Lively
for now only works with Windows XP or Vista and you must have Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox . If you want to see a video ad of Lively can do it here:
This comment is reference a problem is with security with Debian (and Ubuntu inherited). Yes, I know you will say that as the problem is Debian, since Ubuntu is not to blame. I do not see it, and for one simple reason: Red Hat eg kernel putting in their distribution is a kernel patched things especially for them by correcting the official kernel. Ie, Red Hat cares what it distributes. Ubuntu makes a lot of marketing to be one of the best and safest, but the only thing he did was to "create an installer, and change the default theme for gnome?
not want to get into an argument, because Ubuntu has a lot of great stuff, and maybe some distributions should learn about her, but that does not make a marketing free advertising too, given the ownership of new features in the world GNU / Linux , it appears that there are other distributions that you have some time, or are they simply improvements has given to update the Gnome desktop.
A new monopoly?
And we have become a reality Ubuntu is currently the most widely used distribution , to the point of almost becoming a monopoly in the field of Linux, is what I think, already all know the "big" Microsoft software with its huge monopoly, and their eagerness to attack GNU / Linux ... Ubuntu
is considered one of the best distros now, and although there are literally hundreds of distributions (over 500 at last count of DistroWatch ), only a handful have real relevance, and of those 5 or 6 large distributions clearly highlights the solution created by Canonical, which has already "won" the hearts of millions of users.
remember that one of the pillars of GNU / Linux and free software is the variety of options to choose from, and if Ubuntu in which case the only reference becomes noticeable or only option in the Linux world, everything is coming looks bad ... very bad ...
Now let another point. The number of users running Ubuntu as their first distribution is made by one of the following reasons:
Of the four options mentioned above, unfortunately the latter is the least likely. Starting with that freedom does not matter to us all, so do not come to that they use Ubuntu because it is free (yes, in principle it is), and if I think: click here and here, the truth not enough to OGG or with free video formats, or ... how can we fail to see this beautiful collection of videos that cost me when I used to collect both Windows? And we care much less for my nVidia drivers are not free, because the only thing was to install Ubuntu install that so nice they call Beryl or Compiz Fusion.
Sorry if anyone felt alluded to, but I repeat: it is my opinion. Ending: Canonical has done a good job on their part, making more and more users go from Windows to Ubuntu (at least try) ... unfortunately all these users, very few truly understand the meaning of GNU / Linux.
